In response to the recent introduction of the Wildfire Response Improvement Act (H.R.7070) from Representatives Greg Stanton (D-AZ) and Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), BuildStrong America Executive Director Natalie Enclade, PhD, made the following statement:
BuildStrong America applauds Representatives Stanton and LaMalfa for introducing the Wildfire Response Improvement Act and acknowledging the necessity of tackling the unique challenges presented by wildfires within FEMA programs. This legislation marks a pivotal move in rectifying the current imbalance in addressing the disparate impacts of wildfire, ranging from debris removal to emergency protective measures, to the repercussions on water infrastructure. Providing specialized support in a bipartisan manner strengthens our capacity to safeguard our communities and essential resources.
BuildStrong America joined the Big City Emergency Managers, the National Association of of Counties, the National Emergency Management Association, the International Association of Emergency Managers, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs in issuing a letter of support for this bipartisan measure.
