BuildStrong Coalition Statement on Release of BRIC Pocket Guide

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The BuildStrong Coalition issued a statement today on the joint release of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Pocket Guide by the Coalition and its founding member, the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC):

“We are excited about the release of the BRIC Pocket Guide, which will undoubtedly assist community mitigation and resilience efforts through the grant program,” said BuildStrong Executive Director Pamela Williams. “With BRIC, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has made available $1 billion for the current year alone – an unprecedented amount of funding in the face of rising disaster costs and losses. As an integral part of the BuildStrong Coalition, NAMIC is well-positioned to ensure individuals and communities in need can tap into the protective resources made available through the program. This guide will be an invaluable tool in achieving that mission.”

The BRIC Pocket Guide, which is designed to help communities on assessing risks, collaborating with both government and non-government stakeholders, and making use of the numerous tools available to maximize a mitigation project’s effectiveness, is available online at namic.org.
