BuildStrong Applauds Introduction of Bipartisan Senate Mitigation Grant Reform Bill

In response to the introduction of the bipartisan Facilitating Hazard Mitigation Projects Act by Senators Gary Peters (D-MI) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), BuildStrong Coalition Executive Director Natalie Enclade issued the following statement:

The current grant process for communities seeking to protect themselves from disasters is cumbersome, overly complicated, and puts rural and other under-resourced communities at a disadvantage for accessing funds. This bipartisan bill would require FEMA to streamline and simplify its cost effectiveness process to help ensure every community is able to access mitigation dollars and improve their resilience more easily. We applaud Senators Peters and Cassidy for working together on behalf of communities in Michigan, Louisiana, and across the country.
